GSO Event Funding

 

The Graduate Student Council is proud to provide funding for Graduate Student Organizations (GSOs) to conduct events related to their research or meaningful campus activities. The application and requirements below must all be met at least 1 month in advance of the event to guarantee funds are approved before the date.

HOW OFTEN CAN GSOs GET FUNDING?

GSOs may receive funding once per semester.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Eligibility

  • For an event put on by a chartered GSO
  • GSO must be in good standing
  • At least three members of the GSO must perform 1 hour of community service
  • See GSC Bylaws for specifics on what the Council will and will not fund.

      Application

  • A completed GSO Funding Appropriation Form
  • Documentation of approved community service participation by
    at least 3 GSO members
  • A cover letter that explains the event details and exactly how the
    funding will be used
  • A letter of recommendation from the GSO Advisor justifying the
    value of this event
  • Documentation of other sources of income for this event

 

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

Each GSO will be required to present to the GSC and inform the Voting Representatives of the items or services for which they are requesting funding.

  • GSOs requesting funding at a GSC general meeting must inform the GSC President, in writing at least 72 hours prior to that meeting
  • All GSC appropriations shall be approved at least 2 weeks prior to the event
  • GSC appropriations shall be approved by a simple majority vote
  • GSOs who are approved for funding shall complete a Council Funding Form that must be signed by the GSC’s President, Treasurer, and Faculty Advisor, as well as by the ASNMSU Comptroller and be submitted to the ASNMSU Fiscal Advisor
  • The GSC Treasurer, or other Officers as delegated, shall contact the
    ASNMSU Comptroller within 10 days of approval to use such funding
