Description of each position in the Graduate Student Council

  1. President: The President of the council is responsible for coordinating council activities, enforcing bylaws, presiding over the proceedings of the General Council meetings, call meetings, and serve as the official council representative for the University
  2. Vice President: The Vice President is a member of all committees, assumes the duties of the President if they are unable to perform them, and will assume the office of the President, should the President leave office.
  3. Vice President of Activities: The Vice President of Activities shall organize all activities of the GSC including, but
    not limited to GRAS and Gradulicious, unless otherwise assigned by the council. They shall coordinate facilities, dates, volunteers, and all promotional items associated with GSC activities in cooperation with the GSC Treasurer.
  4. Secretary: The Secretary shall keep all records and informal minutes of the Council, keep copies of all minutes of committee meetings, keep an accurate list of voting Council members and chartered GSOs, keep a record of all general meeting attendance, and notify members of meetings and meeting agendas
  5. Treasurer: The Treasurer shall oversee the disbursement of all funds coming into the possession of the Council, keep an itemized account of all Council monies and expenditures, and subject this account to an open audit by the Council upon request. The Treasurer shall be responsible for documenting financial procedures and providing the information to the membership about financial policies and procedures.
  6. Webmaster: The Webmaster shall be responsible for all IT related functions of the GSC, including but not limited to the website and all social media (including the creation of flyers/posters, coordination of messaging, and distribution).

All nominees will be given a change to briefly address the Council at a GSC meeting and present their qualifications and experience. For​ Council member's efforts in their role, they earn a 5 hour/week GA-ship, paid by the Graduate School. To qualify, you must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be enrolled as a full-time student for the current academic year. 

Members of the GSC are involved with policy decisions and are some of the strongest voices advocating for graduate students at all levels of the university.
