PFLAG announces an amazing, FREE event that will be taking place on campus. The event will be a showing of “Raising Zoey”, a documentary about a transgender teen on a journey to find her voice—as a daughter, sister, student, and activities. The film covers topics pertaining to growing up transgender in a working-class Latino home. It discusses the intersectionality of the family addressing subjects like immigration, early transitioning, knowing your rights at school as a trans/GNC student, navigating medical insurance, community support, early medical support, suicide prevention, empowerment, and peer to peer advocacy. Following the screening of the 50-minute documentary, there will be a Q&A time with Zoey’s mother Ofelia and filmmaker Dante.
This event is hosting for PFLAG and sponsored by CEP Doctoral Student Association. This will be a great and informative event for all. Please feel free to join us. The event will take place on Saturday, February 2nd from 6pm-8pm at NMSU Domenici Hall.
