Graduate students in many departments have organized departmental Graduate Student Organizations (GSO’s) to help sponsor lectures or colloquia, provide a means of networking for graduate students, improve facilities and/or equipment available for graduate students, and seek financial support for graduate student research and travel.
Members of GSO’s chartered through NMSU’s Department of Campus Activities are eligible to receive funding from the Graduate Student Council (GSC), whose budget is provided by the Associated Students of NMSU (ASNMSU). Chartered GSOs and their members may also go directly to ASNMSU for additional funds above and beyond what is provided by the GSC.
GSO’s must re-charter every year. The (Re)chartering form and further information about student organizations can be found on the Campus Activities website. The Department of Campus Activities also maintains a list of all currently chartered GSO’s. When (Re)chartering be sure to select Category: Graduate and College Council: Graduate Student Council (on page two of the online (Re)chartering form) or your GSO and all its members will be ineligible to receive funding from the GSC.
